Hi, and thanks for your LinkedIn answer to my question about collaborative channels. As you can see, I'm here now as a result.
Your initial post on "the future" is an area I have a keen interest in. Having spent 5 to 6 years trying to(a) generate connections (b) generate projects (c) become more commercial and (d) put my communication talents back to work, I now have a firmer idea how to move forward and what my product and service offerings should be. It is in the area of forming dynamic self help groups, raising awareness of future solutions and indeed on several specific topics which could benefit us all. I'll come back to these.
The question now is how to best use the technology to co-form such niche groups, with an active working identity, broadcast those groups to a range of interested contacts, and still have commercial potential, i.e. a reward factor for the time invested.
You might begin to see that there can be significant implications from this style of working group for old style business, in that conventional poorly functioning recruitment could be replaced by a much more dynamic and accurate reflector of individual's skills and abilities. Also conventional management would have to adapt much more to embrace individual aspirations and interests, yet still retaining their commercial focus.
After a 20 year career in old style blue chip, I made a bad decision, and got off the gravy train for a sabbatical just before 9/11, and it's been pretty tough since then. No longer having an office environment of peers to walk round, I am now exploring the technology to "ask every person", as evidenced here.
That leaves a large area as yet still to explore and distil into a service offering that can be packaged and conveyed to others.
Would you be interested in collaborating on this ? I agree with you that face to face meetings are much better, but I can't sanction travel to Cambridge until some revenue is involved.
:-(
Should you come up to central London, however, I would be happy to meet there, as I live in Harrow.
Your advice and guidance on my evolving blog would be most welcome, and here you can see forming the specific topics that exercise not just me but many of us:

If you use my Skype ID initially, which is the same as my Blogger ID, we can exchange emails and connect using www.plaxo.com and first hand on LinkedIn.
